بعد أن تم توريط قائدهما السابق النقيب الراحل "كونراد هاورد" يحاول "مايك لاوري" و"ماركوس بورنيت" تبرئة اسمه، لكن ينتهي بهما الأمر بالفرار بأنفسهما.

منذ أن تواجه وكيل خدمة الأمن الدبلوماسي الأمريكي - هوبز- و المنبوذ - شاو - ، قاما فقط بتبادل الضربات والكلمات السيئة.

الأولاد سيكونون أولادا. . . بعضها أطول من البعض الآخر. بعد وفاة مدرب كرة السلة في المدرسة الثانوية ، يجتمع خمسة أصدقاء حميمين وزملاء سابقين في عطلة نهاية الأسبوع في الرابع من يوليو.

في محاولة لإثبات الذات يبدأ ضابطا شرطة حديثا التخرج عملهما، ويتقمصان شخصية مراهقين فى إحدى المدارس الثانوية، كي يكشفا أطراف الجريمة، ومروجي المخدرات المسيطرين على المدرسة، وينتج عن ذلك العديد من المواقف الكوميدية.

يتقاطع طريق منظفان خصمان عندما يُستدعيان لتنظيف ورطة مسؤولة بارزة في "نيويورك". عبر ليلة واحدة حافلة، سيكون عليهما تجاوز خصومتهما التافهة وكبرياؤهما لإنهاء المهمة.

عندما يكون رجال الشرطة مشغولين ... أملنا الوحيد هو ... على عكس نظرائهم الأبطال في القوة ، لا يحصل محققو شرطة نيويورك المقيدين بالمكتب غامبل وهويتز على عناوين الصحف أثناء عملهم يوما بعد يوم. عندما تتحول قضية تبدو بسيطة إلى مشكلة كبيرة ، يحصل الشرطيان على فرصة ليثبتا أخيرا لرفاقهما أن لديهما الأشياء الصحيحة.

تدور احداث الفيلم حول أفضل حارس شخصي في العالم، والذي يتم تكليفه بحراسة قاتل محترف، حيث أن هذا القاتل مطلوب للإدلاء بشهادته أمام محكمة العدل الدولية، وهنا يجب على الاثنين أن ينحيا خلافتهما جانبًا، وأن يعملا معًا من أجل الوصول إلى المحكمة في الوقت المحدد.

في جو الكوميديا الممزوج بالحركة يرصد الفيلم حياة الضابط شميدت (جونا هيل)، حيث يتخفى ويتسلل لكلية محلية من أجل كشف حلقة إجرامية داخل دار أخوية، بمصاحبة شريكه جينكو (شانينج تاتوم). تتعقد الأحداث عندما تخبو روحه لفريق كرة القدم وتصبو روح شميدت للفن البوهيمي، حتى يصل بهم الأمر بالتشكيك في علاقتهما وشراكتهما. على الجانب الآخر يصعد سؤال هام حول إمكانية كلٍ منهما في العثور على علاقةٍ ناضجة.

يتحول بوركي ودافي، الثنائي الغريب الكلاسيكي في الرسوم المتحركة، إلى أبطال غير متوقعين عندما تكشف تصرفاتهما في مصنع العلكة المحلي عن مؤامرة سرية للسيطرة على عقول الكائنات الفضائية. وعلى الرغم من كل الصعوبات، فإن الاثنين عازمان على إنقاذ مدينتهما (والعالم!)... هذا إذا لم يدفعا بعضهما البعض إلى الجنون في هذه العملية.
