تحكي القصة عن المأمور وودي الذي يتعرض للإصابة كلعبة في بداية الفيلم فيتم ركنه على الرفّ ويجد صديقة القديم المريض بسبب الركنة ولما يحاول إنقاذه من البيع كروبابيكيا يقوم أحد المتجولين في معرض الروبابيكيا بسرقة المأمور وودي لأغراض ربحية وتدور القصة بعد ذلك حول محاولة أصدقاء المأمور وودي بقيادة باز يطير لاسترجاع صديقهم وإنقاذه إلى أنهم يجدوا الكثير من المفاجآت ولكنهم يعدوا في نهاية الفيلم وقد انضم إليهم صديقين جدد.
يحكي الفيلم عن الفتى اليتيم (لمض) البالغ من العمر 12 عامًا، والذي يتمتع بعبقرية نادرة جدا، جعلته يتمكن من التوصل إلى عدد من الاختراعات المذهلة والمفيدة، فيحاول أن يستغل قدراته العلمية وعبقريته في اختراع آلة تمكنه من الانتقال عبر الزمن حتى يتعرف على والدته التي لم يرها من قبل، وخلال رحلة بحثه عن أمه، وجد نفسه قد انتقل إلى المستقبل وليس الماضى؛ حيث قابل هناك فتى يُدعى (وائل ربسوس)، الذي عرفه على عائلة (ربسوس) المرحة، والتي ساعدته في اكتشاف مجموعة من الأسرار المدهشة عن قدراته الخاصة غير المحدودة، وأثناء هذه الرحلة الخارقة، يقوم الشرير (أبو برنيطة) بسرقة هذه الآلة التي لا يستطيع من دونها العودة إلى وطنه، ليتحول حلم (لمض) إلى إيجاد طريقة للعودة إلى زمنه.
تدور أحداث القصة حول سرقة فيروس مميت يُدعى (كميرا) والمصل الخاص به، يتعين على العميل (إيثان هانت) منع انتشار الفيروس، والذي يؤدي للوفاة في حالة الإصابة به خلال ساعات معدودة، يكون على إيثان أن يسترجع مصل الفيروس من (شين آمبروز) الذي ينوي بيع المصل المضاد لمجموعة من الإرهابيين للحصول على الأموال الطائلة بعد نشر الفيروس في العالم كله، يستعين إيثان باللصة المحترفة (نياه) لمساعدته في استرجاع المصل والفيروس، إلا أنه سرعان ما يقع في حبها، يسعى إيثان لإنقاذ حبيبته من موت محتم بعد أن تصاب بالفيروس، في الوقت الذي يتوجب عليه إفشال مخطط نشر الفيروس.
يتم إرسال بعثة إنقاذ فضائية للبحث عن مركبة فضائية ضاعت في الفضاء، ولكن بمجرد وصول البعثة إلى عمق الفضاء، يعلن العالم وير عن سر خطير وصادم لأعضاء بعثة الإنقاذ، وأن السفينة اختفت بعد اشتباك طاقمها من العلماء والمهندسين مع عدو مجهول، ويشغل آخر تسجيل صوتي تم التقاطه من السفينة قبل انقطاع الاتصال معها واختفائها، يصاب الجميع برعب شديد بسبب أصوات الصراخ والعويل التي أصدرها طاقم المركبة المفقودة.
