تدور أحداث الفيلم في إطار كوميدي ساخر. يعيش شون (سيمون بيج) حياة تعيسة، فلا يوجد لديه أية طموحات فى الحياة، ويعيش برفقة صديقه إد (نيك فروست)؛ الذى يقضى معه معظم وقت فراغه فى الحانة. تتخلى حبيبته (ليز) عنه، وهو ما يدفع شون إلى السعي لاستعادة حبها من جديد، ولكن فى الوقت ذاته، تتعقد الأمور بغتة في مدينة لندن، ويتحول الكثير من سكانها إلى موتى أحياء. لا يصدق شون فى البداية ما يحدث حوله، ويدرك أن عليه خوض أول مغامرة حقيقية فى حياته برفقة صديقه إد وحبيبته ليز.
