في أثناء مطاردة المحققين (ريجز ومورتا) أحد أفراد عصابة لتهريب المخدرات، يستطيع المجرم الهرب لكنهما يستطيعان مصادرة سيارته التى وجدا بها ما يعادل مليون دولار من العملات الذهبية، لكن المطاردة تتسبب في كثير من الخسائر، فيقرر مديرهما معاقبتهما بجعلهما مرافقين لحماية لو بيجز الذي سيقوم بالشهادة في قضية كبرى، ينجحا، في إنقاذه من محاولة القتل، ويكتشفان أنه متخصص في عملية غسيل الأموال لتجار المخدرات، يتتبعان الأسماء التي يعطيها لهما، فيكتشفان أنها لها علاقة بأحد الموظفين الكبار في السفارة الجنوب أفريقية.

تدور أحداث الفيلم حول الضابط مارتن ريجز وصديقه الشرطي روجر اللذان يتوليان التحقيق في جريمة القاتلة الصينية ومحاولتها لإخراج شقيقها من السجن.
