Rakel is a strict Christian believer living in the far north of 1930s Sweden. When her husband forms a sectarian movement, with directions straight from God, she has no choice but to join the increasingly explicit cult.

A personal deconstruction of the true crime genre, focusing on the figure of a relative of the director: a notorious Swedish criminal nicknamed “the Count.” As it recounts the life story of this three-times suspect of murder, the film challenges the seemingly unquenchable thirst for stories about violence. The Icelandic people was born of Norwegian immigrants who would not submit to the tyranny of the king of Norway and established a republican country in the Middle Ages, where social classes were virtually diluted and developed a subsistence economy. After centuries of freedom was first submitted by Norway and then by Denmark until World War II. Iceland has always had a libertarian spirit that is born of its history and of being a place with few inhabitants and always with a rebellious and disobedient spirit.
