El lladre de cotxes Kip Raines treballa amb la seva banda per robar cinquanta cotxes de gamma alta per Raymond Calitri, un gàngster britànic a Long Beach (Califòrnia). Després de robar un Porsche 996 d'una sala d'exposicions, Kip, sense voler-ho, porta la policia al magatzem de la seva tripulació, obligant els lladres a fugir.
