5. března 1953 umírá muž. Tím mužem je Josef Stalin. Po jeho skonu vypuká v řadách jeho nejbližších naprostý zmatek a panika. Na to, co nastane po skonu velkého vůdce, se dosud báli jen pomyslet. Vždyť Lenin byl, je a bude vždy živý. Proč by nemohl i Stalin? Během jeho života se soustředili především na to, jak jej přežít. A teď se začnou naplno projevovat absurdní a pokřivené charaktery všech těchto Stalinových pohrobků. Začíná boj o veškerou moc nad komunistickou říší, která do této chvíle patřila jen a pouze brutálnímu diktátorovi. O nejvyšší post nebo aspoň o bezpečné místečko pod ním se perou ti, kteří se za dobu Stalinovy krutovlády dokázali zbavit jakéhokoli vlastního názoru. Stále se ujišťují, co by tomu nebo tamtomu řekl Stalin, a co by se jim za to asi tak mohlo stát. Povýšení? Gulag? Provaz? Koho se mají bát teď? Jedni kují pikle proti druhým a do toho společně organizují okázalý diktátorův pohřeb.

Senátor Jay Bulworth věří, že jeho kariéra je u konce a uzavře životní pojistku na nehorázně vysokou částku. Vědomí blížící se smrti jej přivede na naprosto šílenou myšlenku: poruší všechna pravidla politiky a začne říkat pravdu. O každém a o všem. To jej však překvapivě vynese na špičku žebříčku popularity a navíc se beznadějně zamiluje do jedné ze svých mladých obdivovatelek. Teď, když našel nový smysl života, musí ještě zastavit zabijáka, kterého si na sebe najal.

Úspešný manažer kampaně demokratů Gary Zimmer potřebuje nový impulz po katastrofě v amerických prezidentských volbách roku 2016. Jeho tým mu ukáže video plukovníka Jacka Hastingse, v kterém se zasazuje pro podporu přistěhovalců v malém městečku Deerlaken. Gary nabyde přesvědčení, že kdyby Hastings zvítězil v místních volbách v Deerlakenu (tradiční baště republikánů), mohl by se stát celonárodní inspirací pro prezidentské volby v roce 2020. Vydá se proto do Deerlakenu osobně, aby přesvědčil plukovníka a (jak se ukáže) jeho dceru Dianu zapojit se do kampaně. Hastings si klade podmínku: kandidovat bude pouze tedy, když Gary osobně povede jeho kampaň.

Americký president a britský premier by šli do války, ovšem ne každý souhlasí, že válka je dobrá věc. Například americký generál Miller (James Gandolfini) a britský ministr pro mezinárodní rozvoj Foster (Tom Hollander) jsou zastánci míru. Když ovšem Simon Foster jaksi nechtěně podpoří vojenskou akci v televizi, získá najednou ve Washingtonu spoustu přátel. Pokud se mu podaří spojit se ve Washingtonu s těmi správnými lidmi a pokud se jeho pobočník (Chris Addison) vyspí s tou správnou stážistkou, možná se jim podaří i zastavit válku...

Práce televizního reportéra (Sean Conery), jenž odhaluje teroristické spiknutí spojené s prodejem atomové bomby, spouští politickou frašku, jejímiž aktéry jsou i prezident Spojených států, jeho politický protivník a šovinistický generál…

V roce 2050 ovládají gigantické korporace celé Spojené státy. Vláda se snaží potlačovat vzpoury obyvatelstva již v zárodku, ale především jim chce předcházet, na což slouží zábavná virtuální realita, která preventivně absorbuje nespokojenost lidí a uklidňuje jejich negativní vášně. Výsledkem je poslušné obyvatelstvo. Vrcholem tohoto procesu na odpoutání pozornosti a zklidnění davů jsou každoroční automobilové závody smrti, v nichž hraje roli nejen rychlost, ale především bezohlednost účastníků. Bonusové body připadnou týmům, které srazí a usmrtí co nejvíce náhodných chodců a okolostojících diváků. Na start se připravuje i neporazitelný vítěz všech dosavadních závodů, slavný Frankenstein (Manu Bennett). Tento robotický muž nemá ani tušení, že jeho kopilot je nebezpečný špión. Vedle něj sedí účastník tajného odboje, který chce jednou provždy ukončit krvavou tradici zabijáckých závodů a zničit společenský systém.

Královna Alžběta I. navštíví na konci 70. let minulého století Anglii, kde najde depresivní krajinu, v níž se život od její doby změnil.

Samatha cestuje se svými zhulenými přáteli na festival lásky, rock and rollový koncert v lesích. Cestou jsou napadeni místními burany, ale podaří se jim ujet. Netuší ovšem, že se v lese skrývá pomatený šílenec v masce Ronalda Reagana.

Snímek Network, břitká satira na "senzacechtivé zpravodajství", se zdá být s každým uplynulým rokem aktuálnější než kdy dřív. Howard Beale, moderátorská hvězda televizní společnosti UBS, je poslán do důchodu, protože příliš zestárl. Beale nedokáže přenést přes srdce, že po pětadvaceti letech přijde o práci jenom kvůli věku. V dalších zprávách proto divákům oznámí, že během svého posledního vysílání spáchá sebevraždu. Šéf televizní stanice Frank Hackett chce Bealea na místě vyhodit, když se ale ukáže, že by UBS mohla dosáhnout v den Bealeovy smrti nejvyšší sledovanosti v historii, kariéristka Diana Christensenová šéfa přesvědčí, aby tohle osudové závěrečné vysílání pojali jako zvláštní událost. Beale se samozřejmě nakonec nezabije - ale začne nesouvisle hovořit o hrozném stavu světa a televize především. Díky tomu se z něj stane nejžhavější osobnost americké televize.

The press has compared it to The Daily Show hosted by Jon Stewart, which was the inspiration for this show. Youssef visited The Daily Show as a guest in April 2013, while Stewart, on hiatus from his own hosting duties, returned the favor on El Bernameg in June 2013.

Its name in Italian translates as "the news slithers", a probable parody of the slighting Italian journalist, submitted to politicians and overwhelmed with shame. The polysemic term Striscia, in English strip, can recall both a line of cocaine and the comic strip. But Striscia is also the slithing snake: this show worm in the hidden holes to unmask the television cheats. Founded in 1988, it is meant to be a parody of the daily news, which airs right before the program, but Striscia also satirizes government corruption and exposes scams with the help of local reporters who are also comedians. The program is directed and produced by Antonio Ricci and is hosted by two major comedians. Usually Ezio Greggio is assisted by another comedian for the winter season, after which there is a change of guard.
