When schoolteacher Cecil Peachtree misses the last train to Fortune, he strikes a deal with outlaw Dooley to secure safe and timely travel. On the journey, the two develop an odd friendship through the power of knowledge.

Two naive slackers, Sam and Alex, are hired to transport a box of contraband psychedelic toads from LA to Vegas. When the desert heat causes the toads to suffer heatstroke, our two heroes are inadvertently dosed when they give the toads CPR and suddenly find themselves on a hallucinogenic odyssey.
