Sovjetunionen 1953: Kommunistpartiets top går i panik, da deres øverste leder og diktator, Josef Stalin, pludselig falder om og dør. For hvem skal nu regere nationen? Den naturlige efterfølger, Georgij Malenkov, har rygrad som en karklud. Chefen for sikkerhedspartiet, Lavrentij Berija, og Nikita Khrusjtjov, sker derimod ikke mange midler i deres kamp for at erobre magten.

Senatoren Jay Bulworth synes, alt er håbløst - politikken, karrieren og livet. Han hæver en stor livsforsikring og betaler en lejemorder til at skyde ham. Viden om at han snart skal dø får imidlertid uventede konsekvenser, da han begynder at være ærlig overfor vælgerne. Da han i ovenikøbet træffer en fascinerende kvinde virker det som om, livet alligevel er værd at leve. Spørsmålet er bare, hvordan han kan stoppe lejemorderen. Satirisk komedie instrueret af Oscarbelønnede Warren Beatty, som også ses i hovedrollen som Bulworth.

Året er 2016, og den politiske strateg Gary (Steve Carell) arbejder for at få Hillary Clinton valgt. Det lykkedes som bekendt ikke. Mere irriterende er det dog, at han blev slået af sin republikanske modpart, Faith (Rose Byrne). Fire år senere ser Gary chance for at gøre en forskel igen ved at få veteranen Jack (Chris Cooper) valgt som borgmester i Wisconsin. Gary gør klar til den helt store kampagne, og han får lavet så meget støj, at Faith bliver lokket til - for at arbejde for Jacks modstander!

Ministeren Simon Foster hører ikke til den britiske regerings største begavelser, og da han i et interview kommer til at antyde en kommende krig i Mellemøsten, går den kradsbørstige spindoktor Malcolm Tucker i aktion for at pynte på fadæsen. Samtidig får amerikanerne øje på Foster og inviterer ham til Washington, hvor en tophemmelig komité barsler med planer om netop sådan en rask lille krig.

I en verden hvor tv-nyhederne i stadig højere grad ligner voldelige underholdningsshows er Patrick Hale kongen blandt reportere. Han er manden der har direkte adgang til topledere over hele kloden. Da en arabisk monark afslører, at han vil lade to atomhoveder sprænge i Israel og USA, hvis USA's forhadte præsident ikke fratræder sin post, øjner Hale chancen for at vinde en Emmy.

Michael Moore ønsker at genindføre demokratiets idealer i sit hjemland, USA. På inspirationstur i de europæiske velfærdsstater erfarer han, at franske folkeskoler serverer sund frokost. Italienerne får otte ugers ferie betalt af staten. Portugiserne har afkriminaliseret stofmisbrug. De indsatte i Norges højsikkerhedsfængsler har nøgler til dørene, og Islands eneste gældfri bank bestyres af kvinder.

I denne actionfyldte og mørkt humoristiske genindspilning af den originale Death Race 2000 er det år 2050, og USA ledes af en almægtig korporativ regering. Masserne er blevet hjernevasket med voldelig virtual reality-underholdning. Årets begivenhed er Death Race, hvor voldelige kørere konkurrerer i et landevejsløb tværs gennem landet og scorer point ved skamløst at køre folk over og køre hinanden ad vejen. Den regerende mester og fansenes favorit, Frankenstein, halv mand og halv maskine, vil gerne vinde kronen, men hans andenpilot er spion for modstanderne og truer hans drøm.

Den aldrende nyhedsoplæser Howard Beale erfarer, at han kun har to uger tilbage på arbejdet grundet dalende seertal. I vrede og fuldskab annoncerer han, at han vil begå selvmord for åben skærm. Al Bernameg is a popular Egyptian satirical program. The series is hosted by satirical comedian Bassem Youssef on the satellite channel CBC. The press has compared it to The Daily Show hosted by Jon Stewart, which was the inspiration for this show. Youssef visited The Daily Show as a guest in April 2013, while Stewart, on hiatus from his own hosting duties, returned the favor on El Bernameg in June 2013.

Its name in Italian translates as "the news slithers", a probable parody of the slighting Italian journalist, submitted to politicians and overwhelmed with shame. The polysemic term Striscia, in English strip, can recall both a line of cocaine and the comic strip. But Striscia is also the slithing snake: this show worm in the hidden holes to unmask the television cheats. Founded in 1988, it is meant to be a parody of the daily news, which airs right before the program, but Striscia also satirizes government corruption and exposes scams with the help of local reporters who are also comedians. The program is directed and produced by Antonio Ricci and is hosted by two major comedians. Usually Ezio Greggio is assisted by another comedian for the winter season, after which there is a change of guard.
