Lige siden de var små, har Lars og Sigrit kun drømt om én ting: at vinde Eurovision Song Contest. I den lille islandske fiskerby er de lidt af en joke, men efter en mystisk ulykke får Lars og Sigrit pludselig chancen for at repræsentere deres land på den helt store scene. Drømmen lever, men snu rivaler og bizarre uheld sætter duoens sammenhold på en prøve.
Denne hjælpeløst svulstige musical er produceret af B-filmenes konger Menahem Golan & Yoram Globus fra det legendariske Cannon Film, der har samlet et hold foran og bagved kameraet, der synes fuldstændig blottet for musiktalent. Men The Apples gennemførte afskyelighed er netop dét, der gør den til en klassiker. Filmen udspiller sig i 1994 - i fremtiden med andre ord - og følger et ungt par, Alphie og Bibi, der vinder Melodi Grand Prix meget mod den satantiske musikproducer Boogalows ønsker. Efterfølgende prøver han derfor at lokke det talentfulde par over på hans side.
Alle elsker - eller elsker at hade det store årlige tv-show. I 1956 fik svejtseren Marcel Besancon fra den Europæiske Broadcasting Union den dristige ide at lave en sangkonkurrence, der kunne forene et krigshærget og forarmet Europa. Efterhånden som Den Kolde Krig tog til, blev sangkonkurrencen et vindue til det glitrende og teknologisk overlegne Vesten og et symbol på Vestens frihed modsat den kulturelle undertrykkelse i Østeuropa. Og da det stod klart, at Vesten ville vinde Den Kolde Krig, voksede showet til at blive verdens største show.
Karl Højby Hansen har levet de første 12 år af sit liv i Hvide Sande sammen med sin mor, mormor og morfar. Derfor bliver chokket stort, da hans mor fortæller ham, at de skal flytte til København. Omstillingen bliver svær og absolut ikke hjulpet af, at han skal starte på Rådmandsgades Skole på Nørrebro, hvor 80 procent af børnene er tosprogede, og jargonen hård. Karl begynder hurtigt at planlægge sin flugt tilbage til morfar og mormor og får hjælp fra uventet kant. For i 6B går også tyrkiske Sawsan, der har sat sig for at deltage i finalen i MGP trods sin families modstand. Karl og Sawsan finder stik mod alle odds sammen i en fælles mission vestpå...
