Blæksprutten dr. Octavius Brine nærer et indædt had til den langt mere nuttede pingvinrace. Forklædt som forsker vil Brine kidnappe alle pingviner i verden og forvandle dem til frastødende mutanter! Men de fire pingvinagenter Skipper, Kowalski, Rico og Rekrut er på sagen, og de får hjælp af indsatsstyrken Nordenvind, der består af en ulv, en sæl, en isbjørn og en ugle.

Løven Alex, zebraen Marty, giraffen Melman og flodhesten Gloria hygger sig på Madagascar. Da de får mulighed for smuttur hjem til New York, så de siger ja tak. De får nemlig flyvelejlighed med de tre pingviner, der i sin tid var skyld i, at de havnede på Madagascar. De fire venner kommer dog ikke længere end til Afrika, og her finder de ud af, at der findes andre giraffer, løver, zebraer og flodheste end dem.
Kongepingviner danner par ved at synge sig ind i hinandens hjerter. Derfor er det mere end almindelig surt for pingvinen Mumble, da han opdager, at han ikke kan synge. I stedet beslutter Mumble at forsøge at danse sig til opmærksomhed fra sin elskede. Opmærksomhed får han, men ikke på den gode måde. I hvert fald ikke til at begynde med.
Kan man forstille sig et bedre sted at starte en dokumentarfilm om surfing end Antarktis? Ikke hvis vi taler om surfende pingviner (og en enkelt kylling). Her møder vi i hvert fald Cody Maverick, der er træt af sit job som fiskesorterer, træt af at blive mobbet af sin storebror, træt af ikke at blive respekteret som det, han er: Verdens bedste surfer. Nu viser chancen sig endelig for at efterligne hans store idol Big Z og tage til surf-mesterskabet på Hawaii. Her møder han andre håbefulde unge surf-pingviner (og en enkelt kylling), der vil tage kampen op mod den regerende og temmelig usympatiske mester, Tank. Men Cody har meget at lære endnu. Om livet, om pigerne – især livredderen Lani – og om surfing. Tilfældet vil, at han støder ind i den udkoksede ekssurfer Geek, som måske kan vise ham vejen. Så er spørgsmålet bare, om han når det, inden det skal afgøres på bølgetoppen, hvem der er den bedste pingvin.
Sammen med sine dyrevenner har løven Alex levet hele sit liv i fangenskab. De har vænnet sig til faste spisetider og et liv uden de store sorger og glæder. Gruppen af venner beslutter at se lidt på den omgivende storby, men ender i stedet på den afrikanske ø Madagaskar, hvor de pludselig skal lære at klare sig selv i naturen...
Pingvinerne vendte aldrig tilbage fra deres tur til Europa, så nu rejser Alex, Marty, Gloria og Melman tværs over Atlanten for at hente dem. De finder pingvinerne i Monte Carlo, hvor de er i færd med at sprænge kasinoet. Men da det lokale veterinærpoliti fatter interesse for dyrene, søger vennerne fra zoo tilflugt hos en cirkustrup, der har kurs mod New York.

The Penguins of Madagascar is an American CGI animated television series airing on Nickelodeon. It stars nine characters from the DreamWorks Animation animated film Madagascar: The penguins Skipper, Kowalski, Private, and Rico; the lemurs King Julien, Maurice, and Mort; and Mason and Phil the chimpanzees. Characters new to the series include Marlene the otter and a zookeeper named Alice. It is the first Nicktoon produced with DreamWorks Animation. A pilot episode, "Gone in a Flash", aired as part of "Superstuffed Nicktoons Weekend" on November 29, 2008, and The Penguins of Madagascar became a regular series on March 28, 2009. The series premiere drew 6.1 million viewers, setting a new record as the most-watched premiere. Although the series occasionally alludes to the rest of the franchise, The Penguins of Madagascar does not take place at a precise time within it. Paz is an American television show produced by Telescreen BV, Egmont Imagination, King Rollo Films, Open Mind Productions, Discovery Kids, and DreamWorks Classics.
