Thneedville er ren og pæn og har alt, hvad man kan ønske sig. Så længe man ikke ønsker sig frisk luft eller fri natur. Men frisk luft kan man købe på flaske, og fri natur er der ingen, der drømmer om… undtagen Audrey. Fordi Ted er forelsket i Audrey drager han ud for at finde et ægte levende træ, så han måske kan vinde sig et kys. Ted forlader Thneedvilles trygge, rene rammer og begiver sig ud i det mærkelige tusmørkeland uden for bygrænsen – golde, afskovede skråninger, hvor den eneste beboer i et faldefærdigt hus er Onceler. Men inden Onceler vil fortælle, hvordan træerne kan komme tilbage, må Ted høre mange mærkelige historier, blandt andre en om Lorax, skovens beskytter, et vrissent men dog alligevel charmerende væsen, som kæmper for at beskytte sin omverden.

Ray Kroc har ikke megen succes som omrejsende sælger af milkshakemiksere i 1950'ernes USA. Men efter et besøg på brødrene McDonalds nye burgerrestaurant i Californien øjner han chancen for storhed. Kroc tager alle midler i brug for at overtale brødrene til at sælge ham deres nyskabende fastfoodkoncept, så han selv kan score kassen på at opbygge en kæmpe franchise af kæderestauranter.

George Bailey er en tilsyneladende lykkelig familiefar, der inderst inde føler, at hans liv er forfejlet. Ingen af hans drømme er blevet realiseret, og den årelange kamp mod byens hensynsløse rigmand ser ud til at slutte med et totalt nederlag. Writers for the show included James Griffin, who went on to write Outrageous Fortune, Rosemary McLeod and Ian Mune. The show's title theme song was performed by Beaver Morrison. The show has not been rescreened since its original screening, but selected extracts have been made available for viewing on NZ On Screen.
