En hyggelig sightseeingtur op ad en af floderne i Australiens Kakadu Nationalpark bliver forvandlet til et mareridt for en håndfuld uskyldige turister og bådens kaptajn, den afslappede kaptajn Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell). Undervejs ser de rejsende et nødsignal fra længere oppe ad floden, og Kate føler sig forpligtet til at undersøge det nærmere. Det skulle hun dog aldrig have gjort (hvis hun bare havde vidst, hun var med i en gyserfilm!). Kate styrer båden og de intetanende turister ud af de normale sejlruter, og de kommer til en del af floden, hvor en gigantisk - og glubsk - krokodille hersker. Og den bryder sig ikke om, at fremmede trænger ind på dens territorium!
I løbet af 13 somre rejste grizzlybjørnseksperten Timothy Treadwell til Alaska for at studere og leve med bjørne. Ekspeditionerne fik en brat afslutning i 2003, da Timothy og hans kæreste blev dræbt af en bjørn. Werner Herzog gennemgik over hundrede timer af Timothys egne optagelser for at lave denne dokumentarfilm.
Familien Henderson er på vej hjem fra en skovtur, da de kører et mystisk væsen ned. De tror først, det er en mand, men opdager snart, at bag den behårede skikkelse gemmer sig en ægte "Bigfoot" - amerikanernes svar på Den afskyelige Snemand. De tager fyren med hjem, og den viser sig naturligvis både at være i live og, da det er en familiefilm det her, at være ovenud venlig og pussenusset. I starten nægter de at tro på ham, men inden længe står det klart, at de tre nu ligger inde med en farlig viden, som kan få dramatiske konsekvenser. Det handler om trolde. Store, modbydelige trolde.
