Um sich für ihr neues Buch inspirieren zu lassen, beschließt Emma (Ana Girardot), sich als Prostituierte in einem Bordell in Berlin anstellen zu lassen. Die junge Schriftstellerin Emma will ein Buch über Sexarbeit schreiben. Um diese ihr fremde Welt kennenzulernen, zieht sie nach Berlin und beginnt selbst eine Anstellung in einem Bordell. Emma möchte sich eigentlich nur ein paar Wochen dort aufhalten, bleibt dann aber über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren. Immer mehr wird sie auch mit den Gefahren dieses Berufs und dem Gefühl der Entfremdung und Isolation konfrontiert, das es schwierig macht, private romantische Beziehungen einzugehen.

Finkleman also starred in the series as George Findlay, the same character he had played in The Newsroom and More Tears. The series won Finkleman a 1999 Gemini Award for Best Direction in a Dramatic Series. The cast also included Arsinée Khanjian, Sarah Strange, Tom McCamus, Nancy Beatty and Patricia O'Callaghan. Finkleman's next project for the CBC was the series Foreign Objects.
