Το 1999, μια έφηβη παρακολουθεί στενά ένα αγόρι στο σχολείο για λογαριασμό της ερωτοχτυπημένης κολλητής της – ώσπου μπλέκεται σε μια δική της ερωτική ιστορία.

Βρισκόμαστε στο νοτιοανατολικό σημείο στην άκρη της κορεατικής χερσονήσου και στην πασίγνωστη πόλη του Busan. Ένα δημοφιλές σημείο διακοπών στην ανατολική παραλία, Haeundae προσελκύει εκατομμύρια επισκέπτες στις παραλίες του κάθε έτος. Ο Man-sik, ένας ντόπιος Haeundae, έχασε έναν συνάδελφο του σε ένα τσουνάμι σε ένα ταξίδι για ψάρεμα τέσσερα χρόνια πριν. Δεν έχει επιστρέψει ποτέ στη θάλασσα από τότε. Έχει τώρα μια απλή ζωή και έχει ένα μικρό εστιατόριο θαλασσινών, επίσης προετοιμάζεται να κάνει πρόταση στη μακροχρόνια φίλη του, Yeon-yeon-hee. Ο Hyung-sik αδερφός του Man-sik δουλεύει στην ακτοφυλακή. Για να αποφευχθεί μια άλλη πυρηνική καταστροφή, ο Jae-Hyeok και οι συνεργάτες του επιστρέφουν στον πυρηνικό σταθμό ηλεκτροπαραγωγής.
