Στην Τσεχοσλοβακία στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 1960, όταν η ατμόσφαιρα γεμίζει με ροκ-εν-ρολ και φοιτητικές εξεγέρσεις, ένας νεαρός τεχνικός εισέρχεται σε μία από τις πιο διάσημες αίθουσες σύνταξης του δημοσίου ραδιοφώνου. Πολύ γρήγορα, θα βρεθεί στο επίκεντρο μιας επικίνδυνης σύγκρουσης ανάμεσα στους δημοσιογράφους και την μυστική υπηρεσία πληροφοριών. Καθώς τα γεγονότα επιταχύνονται, η ζωή του και των γύρω του θα τεθεί σε άμεσο κίνδυνο.

Ο Μίμης χάνει τη δουλειά του όταν ψηφίζει ενάντια στον μαφιόζο υποψήφιο κι ενώ πίστευε ότι η ψήφος ήταν μυστική. Αφήνει γυναίκα και Σικελία και πηγαίνει στο Τορίνο όπου γνωρίζει και παντρεύεται την κομουνίστρια Φιόρε. Και πάλι βρίσκεται μπροστά του η μαφία κι όταν αυτή τον επιστρέφει στην Σικελία, πρέπει να κρατήσει τον βίο του στο Τορίνο κρυφό.

Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was a mediocre who rose to power because of the blindness and ignorance of the Germans, who believed he was nothing more than an eccentric dreamer. But when the crisis of 1929 devastated the economy, the population, fearful of chaos and communism, voted for him. And no one defended democracy. As the dictatorship extended its relentless shadow, the leader claimed peace, but was preparing the Apocalypse.

In 1966, Justo Gil arrives in Barcelona as a migrant with the purpose of gaining enough money to give his sick mother the best care. His great charisma allows him to socialize with the youngsters of the upper-class, until an unexpected turn of events makes him become an informer of the political police, in order to pursue communist cells.
