Basado en un manga creado por Shinobu Kaitani, esta película comienza en donde la 2 ª temporada de la serie terminó. En la primera serie, una estudiante universitaria, Nao Kanzaki, se ve atraída hacia un misterioso juego en el que debe engañar a otros jugadores para poder ganar. Sin embargo el ex-sensei de Nao la engañó, y desesperada, le pide ayuda a Shinichi Akiyama. En la segunda temporada de la serie, el dúo se enfrenta a nuevos adversarios con la ayuda de un jugador rival llamado Fukunaga. En este filme, a los jugadores se les anima a confiar en los demás en pos de ganar el torneo. Sin embargo, un jugador misterioso llamado X está preparando en secreto un plan para que nadie pueda ganar el LGT.

Para vengarse, la oficina Liar Game es revivida siendo su objetivo Shinichi Akiyama (Matsuda Shota). Debido a la aparición de una nueva heroina Shinomiya (Tabe Mikako), Shinichi que seguía negandose a participar en el juego se encuentra dentro del mismo junto a otros 19 jugadores que compiten por 2 millones de yenes. Omega (Esumi Makiko), que revivió el juego junto a Alice (Ashida Mana), crean el nuevo juego escogiendo a los jugadores y diseñando las nuevas trampas.

The anime centers around a boy named Kouta Kouka (Kouka Kouta in Japanese name order, an apparent wordplay on Coca-Cola). Kouta strives to be the world's best Bottle King at the Bottle Battles in the virtual Drink World. He comes across his Bottleman partner Colamaru and then wages battles with various rivals.
