زمانی که آزمایشاتی جهت بدست آوردن درمانی برای آلزایمر بر روی میمون ها انجام میشود، یک میمون که از لحاظ ژنتیکی جهش یافته است،‌ هوش بالایش را به کار می گیرد تا بقیه هم نوعانش را برای رسیدن به آزادی رهبری کند.

سزار و ارتش میمون‌ها وارد یک درگیری تحمیلی و مرگبار با ارتش انسان‌ها به رهبری کولونلی بی‌رحم می‌شوند. به دنبال تلفات غیر قابل تصور ارتش میمون‌ها، سزار در کشاکشی نزدیک با غریزه تاریک خود، جهت گرفتن انتقام گونه میمون‌ها آماده می‌شود. قضای روزگار در نهایت سزار و کولونل را در نبردی حماسی برای آینده هر یک از گونه‌ها و تعیین سرنوشت این سیاره رو در روی یکدیگر قرار خواهد داد.
