What to do with the ashes in the cocoa can, the remains of someone who has neither an urn nor any living relatives? The mortician, Serge, is a lonely man who leads a monotonous and joyless existence — and the only person attending the funeral happens to be his ex-wife. Serge has also had to look after their daughter, Inès, at short notice. His attempt to give the deceased stranger a dignified funeral creates an opportunity to repair his relationship with Inès.

Ibiza. Bodies on the sand, a warm wind, an eternal sunshine, the chatter of crickets. A child’s eye, a women’s voice. She’s calling her mom, recalling: « Maud, four years old, eczema on the face, knees, arms… »

Angel-faced Désirée goes to a local party with her 'cool' friend Alexia. Jo, the boy who recently took her virginity, will also be there.

Moseka, a young woman from Zaire, travels to Belgium to study. With her braided hair and traditional clothes, she is the laughingstock of her fellow students who strive to look European, adopting wigs and European clothing. The film tells of the depersonalization of young Africans when they enter into contact with the European culture.
