Novinar Lloyd Vogel zadužen je za stvaranje profila Freda Rogersa, tvorca i zvijezde uspješnog dječjeg programa „Susjedstvo g. Rogersa“. Poslušno odlazi u studio gdje njegov subjekt snima svoju emisiju te uskoro zatim sjeda s njim i postavlja mu pronicljiva pitanja. Međutim, čini se da Fred ima na umu drukčiji plan. Intervjuirani iznenada postaje onaj koji intervjuira te počinje na neočekivane načine pomagati piscu.
