Il trionfo della volontà è un film di propaganda Nazionalsocialista del 1935, diretto da Leni Riefenstahl. Il film documenta il Raduno di Norimberga del Partito Nazionalsocialista Tedesco dei Lavoratori svoltosi dal 4 al 10 settembre 1934.
La diciannovenne Irena Gut viene promossa governante nella casa di un ufficiale nazista molto rispettato in Polonia quando scopre che il ghetto ebraico sta per essere liquidato. Determinata ad aiutare dodici lavoratori ebrei, decide di ospitarli nel posto più sicuro che le viene in mente: il seminterrato della casa del maggiore tedesco. Nel corso dei successivi otto mesi, Irena usa il suo ingegno, il suo umorismo e il suo immenso coraggio per nascondere i suoi amici il più a lungo possibile.
E' questa una pellicola di propaganda antinazista realizzata da un regista notevole e interpretata da attori di rilievo. Il film raggiunge i suoi scopi attraverso la narrazione delle vicissitudini di una famiglia tedesca travolta dal nazismo intorno al 1933, anno in cui Hitler fu nominato cancelliere. Il professor Victor Roth, di origine ebrea, sta festeggiando con i propri familiari il suo sessantesimo compleanno. Improvvisamente la radio annuncia che Hitler è stato nominato cancelliere. È l'inizio della fine: il professore, arrestato, morirà in un campo di concentramento e la figlia, mentre tenta di riparare in Austria, verrà uccisa dall'ex fidanzato, passato nelle file delle Ss.
Poco prima della seconda guerra mondiale una straordinaria operazione di salvataggio soccorse le vittime più giovani del terrore nazista. Diecimila bambini ebrei, insieme ad altri, furono trasportati dai paesi occupati dalla Germania a rifugi e case di accoglienza in Gran Bretagna. Alcuni strinsero nuovi legami familiari; altri dovettero resistere al Blitz. Altri ancora trovarono modi incredibili di salvare i propri genitori dalla tirannia di Hitler.
