Prima Guerra Mondiale in Africa. Un rozzo avventuriero e una energica missionaria nordamericani discendono in battello un fiume africano con l'assurdo proposito di affondare una nave da guerra tedesca in un grande lago.

Due milioni di anni fa, subito dopo il pasto, un giovane uomo-scimmia di nome Edouard cade dal suo albero e si rompe una delle zampe anteriori.
