1973年9月11日、キャビンアテンダントのレナは、仕事でチリを訪れる。彼女は、現地でジャーナリストの恋人ダニエルと再会を果たしたものの、突然チリ軍部によるクーデターが起こり、反体制勢力としてダニエルが連行されてしまう。彼を救うため、レナは“コロニア・ディグニダ“に潜入する。

1987年1月、全斗煥大統領による軍事政権下の韓国。南営洞警察のパク所長は北分子を徹底的に排除するべく、取り調べを日ごとに激化させていた。そんな中、行き過ぎた取り調べによってソウル大学の学生が死亡してしまう。警察は隠蔽のため遺体の火葬を申請するが、違和感を抱いたチェ検事は検死解剖を命じ、拷問致死だったことが判明。さらに、政府が取り調べ担当刑事2人の逮捕だけで事件を終わらせようとしていることに気づいた新聞記者や刑務所看守らは、真実を公表するべく奔走する。また、殺された大学生の仲間たちも立ち上がり、事態は韓国全土を巻き込む民主化闘争へと展開していく。＜1987年1月14日の学生運動家朴鍾哲拷問致死事件から6月民主抗争に至る大韓民国の民主化闘争を描いた韓国映画＞

チリの2人組監督クリストバル・レオン＆ホアキン・コシーニャの初長編作品で、ピノチェト軍事政権下のチリに実在したコミューン「コロニア・ディグニダ」に着想を得て制作したストップモーションアニメ。 美しい山に囲まれたチリ南部で、「助けあって幸せに」をモットーに掲げて暮らすドイツ人集落。動物が大好きな少女マリアは、ブタを逃してしまったために厳しい罰を受け、耐えきれず集落から脱走する。森の中の一軒家に逃げ込んだ彼女は、そこで出会った2匹の子ブタにペドロとアナと名づけて世話をするが、やがて森の奥からマリアを探すオオカミの声が聞こえてくる。マリアがおびえていると子ブタは恐ろしい姿に変わり、家は悪夢のような世界と化す。 2018年・第68回ベルリン国際映画祭フォーラム部門でカリガリ映画賞、第42回アヌシー国際アニメーション映画祭で審査員賞を受賞した。
