元グリーンベレーでありベトナム戦争から帰還したジョン・ランボー。戦争は終わり、たった一人生き残った戦友を訪ねた帰り道、ふらりと田舎町に立ち寄ったが、汚らしい風来坊という見た目だけで保安官にいわれの無い嫌がらせを受け、無実でありながら不当逮捕されてしまう。保安官事務所内で静かに抵抗するランボーだったが、監禁され暴行されるうち次第に戦場でかつて経験した過酷な拷問の苦痛が蘇り警官達をあっという間に打ちのめしそのまま逃亡してしまう。追われるランボーだが逃げ込む先は彼のグラウンドである山の中。ゲリラ戦で培った戦闘技術で追跡する保安官全てを圧倒的に屈服させるが、ランボーの逃走はマスコミ、州警察、軍を巻き込み次第に大事になってゆく。

警官相手に戦い服役中だったランボーは、元上官トラウトマンから特殊任務に就くことを条件に釈放された。特殊任務とは、ベトナム戦争で行方不明になったアメリカ人兵士と捕虜の動向を調査すること。戦闘は一切不要で、情報収集だけの任務だった。ところが捕虜収容所で米兵の拷問を目撃したランボーは、指令に背いて米兵を救出。その後、彼らは国境近くまで逃げ延びるが、米軍のヘリコプターはふたりを見殺しにして去ってしまう。

ベトナム戦争へ赴いた地元の仲間を支援したいと考えたチッキー（ザック･エフロン）は、戦地へアメリカのビールを届けるという大胆な計画を実行する。善意から始まったその旅は、チッキーの生き方も人生観も変えるのだった。これは実話に基づく物語だ。

ニューオーリンズの地方検事であるジム・ギャリソンは、昼食中に大統領暗殺の第一報を受けた。しかし、直後に逮捕されるリー・ハーヴェイ・オズワルドという人物に、彼は大多数のアメリカ人とは別のショックを受ける。ニューオーリンズの法曹関係者の間ではオズワルドという男は有名人であったからである。 オズワルドは不思議な過去を持ち、奇行を繰り返し、キューバ人の団体とトラブルを起こしていた人物だった。彼はすぐにこの人物の調査を始めるも、大統領暗殺事件の二日後にさらに事件が起こった。マスコミや大勢の警官がいるさなか、オズワルドが警察署の中でジャック・ルビーという男に射殺されたのだ。
