간호학원에 다니는 하루코는 봉사활동으로 타카자와 노인을 보살펴주고 있다. 어느날 타카자와가 최신형 노인 돌보미 로복 'Z-001호'의 모니터 대상으로 선발된다. 타카자와의 안부가 궁금한 하루코는 문안을 가지만, 수많은 튜브가 연결된 타카자와의 모습에 쇼크를 받는다. 타카자와가 위기에 처했다 생각한 하루코는 타카자와의 지인인 노인 해커의 도움을 받아 Z-001호의 해킹을 시도하는데…

끊길 듯 끊어지지 않는 특이한 구성으로, 여러 개의 에피소드를 별개의 영화처럼 늘어놓으며 주인공의 영혼을 흥미롭게 해부하는 듯한 작품. 거주간병인인 사와는 자신의 아버지와 자달라는 고용주의 황당한 요구를 들어주다 사고를 저지르고 직업을 잃는다. 설상가상으로 돈까지 잃어버린 그녀는 길에서 우연히 만난 노인들을 협박하고 회유하면서 같이 지내는 기상천외한 삶을 산다. 그들과의 삶을 통해 사와는 그들이 주변사람들과 맺는 무력한 관계를 치유시키는 희한한 마술을 부린다. 긴 분량의 상영시간에도 불구하고 인간에 대한 감독의 분방한 상상력과 관점을 만끽하게 하는 작품이다.
