Šis nuo nulio sukurtas automobilis buvo skirtas vieninteliam tikslui: laimėti prestižines Le Mano lenktynes ir nukarūnuoti nenugalimą čempioną „Ferrari“. Net šešerius metus iš eilės – nuo 1960-ųjų – Le Mano trasoje „Ferrari“ buvo nenugalimas! Todėl į komandą pasikvietęs genialų, tačiau sunkaus būdo D.Britanijos lenktynininką Keną Mailsą (akt. Christian Bale), išradingasisi „Ford“ inžinierius K.Šelbis (akt. Matt Damon) pasiraitojo rankoves ir ėmėsi darbo.

Puikus lenktynininkas nuo pat pirmos vairavimo pradžios atlieka triukus Holivudo filmavimo aikštelėse, o naktimis veda rizikingą žaidimą. Tačiau viena pavojinga sutartis ir už jo gyvybe paskelbtas atlygis. Dabar norint išlikti gyvu ir išgelbėti savo žavingą kaimynę jis turi daryti tai ką moka geriausiai, meistriškai bėgti nuo priešų..

Menką nusikaltimą padaręs Frankas Leone yra kietas, bet pavyzdingas kalinys. Nepopuliarus tarp vietinių Šaunas, norėdamas išsigelbėti nuo kalėjimo, išvažiuoja gyventi pas dėdę į neturtingą Tokijo rajoną. Deja, pirmos lenktynės šiame rajone jam buvo nesėkmingos, tad vaikinas įtraukiamas į žiaurų Japonijos kriminalinį pasaulį.
