Rytinėje JAV dalyje esantis Apalačių pažintinis takas garsėja nuostabiais peizažais ir yra tapęs traukos tašku žygeiviams iš viso pasaulio. Vien pėstiesiems skirtas pusketvirto tūkstančio kilometrų ilgio takas kasmet sutraukia daugiau nei du milijonus žmonių. Tarp jų yra ir šio filmo herojai – trys poros draugų, nusprendusių savaitgalį praleisti Apalačių take. Savo žygį šeši bičiuliai pradeda mažame Virdžinijos valstijos miestelyje, kuriame vietiniai juos itin stengiasi perspėti, kad žygeiviai šiukštu nenuklystų nuo sužymėtos tako trasos. Kelionės pradžioje skrupulingai laikęsi nurodymų, netrukus jaunuoliai susivilioja intriguojančia nepažymėta tako atšaka ir nutaria ją ištyrinėti. Netrukus miško glūdumoje jie randa keistą 1859 m. atminimo lentelę, skirtą kalnų gyventojų bendruomenės, pasivadinusios „Fondu“, įkūrimui. Šios bendruomenės gyventojai tikėjo, kad Jungtinių Valstijų laukia neišvengiama griūtis ir gelbėdamiesi pasitraukė į kalnus.

Ijanas ką tik baigė vidurinę mokyklą. Jis jaučiasi nevykėliu, nes iki šiol tebėra nekaltas, todėl merginos ieško internete. Vienoje pažinčių svetainėje, kur Ijanas prisistato kietu ir patraukliu vaikinu, jis susipažįsta su panele pravarde Skanutė ir sutaria su ja dėl tikro pasimatymo. Tai nepaprasto grožio ir gilios prasmės didingas dvasinis, egzistencinis dokumentinis filmas apie žmogaus būtį, kuriame kalbama ne žodžiais, o šešiuose žemynuose 24-iose šalyse nufilmuotais vaizdais. Filmas neturi siužeto, filme nėra herojų, filme niekas nešneka. Tiesiog pribloškiantys vaizdai ir raminanti ambient žanro, sakralinė muzika. Filmas pasaulėžiūrą sudrebinantis, rimčiai nuteikiantis, žmogaus laikinumą primenantis, visą virtinę emocijų sukeliantis. Jei kažkada turėjau didelį norą apkeliauti pasaulį, po šio filmo peržiūros to noro nebeliko. Toks jausmas, kad pamatyti nebėra ką. Toks jausmas, kad viską jau patyriau.
