A story about two young lovers in an East German coal mining town.

Biographical search for traces of the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893-1930) in Georgia. During his early, pre-Revolution period leading into 1917, Mayakovsky became renowned as a prominent figure of the Russian Futurist movement.

Böttcher made his graduation film about young people who had become delinquent in a youth work yard in Thuringia. Already here a striking feature of his later films becomes apparent: Jürgen Böttcher gives his protagonists a lot of space; he approaches them without prejudice, empathetically and carefully. In addition, his curiosity can be felt in the life situations and stories of his characters.

Ibrahim Shaddad’s graduation film Jagdpartie (1964), which he shot at the Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst Potsdam-Babelsberg (now: Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF), is a treatise on racism. Shot in a forest in Brandenburg, it uses a Western look to portray the hunt for a Black man.

A young artist receives a telegram: his girlfriend has a stopover at Potsdam station. She wants to use the time to see him... The movie tells of small unfortunate mishaps that prevent the meeting.

The animated film, created as a puppet and clay animation with a drawn and painted backdrop, shows a day in the life of a painter. He drives to the countryside in his sports car, paints a landscape motif, returns to the city - and hangs his painting in an exhibition.

During the Nazi era flames were used to burn books, homes and people. Flames were a response to resistance. With the help of source documents from the time Weiss sketches a character portrait of German fascism.
