A young couple finds themselves in difficult financial straits. The man is out of work and spends his days walking the streets, without so much as a cent in his pocket to buy food. He’s so weak that he collapses in front of a store window. The store’s owner, an elderly man, comes to the man’s aid and offers him a job. His new job requires him to spend all day sitting and keeping watch on the small room at the end of a corridor.

Short stop motion for the German TV youth magazine Dr. Mag. Studio Film Bilder produced 18 different shorts, each time with a different director who interpreted a given subject in his personal style. This time Jürgen Haas dealt with spring, puberty and first love.

To make matters worse, all the food is starting to rebel. A fat earthworm escapes in a hurry, right under the mole's nose. The hunt inside the tunnels begins! Finally the earthworm is caught, but just as the mole is about to bite down, he realises that it's not an earthworm but another mole's tail. Now that they've found each other, there's a happy ending under the molehill.
