Frank is een drugsdealer die samen met zijn maat Tonny her en der in Kopenhagen zaken doet. Hij verstopt zijn drugs bij zijn vriendin Vic, met wie hij echter een twijfelachtige relatie heeft. Op een dag wordt hij benaderd voor een drugsdeal door een Zweed met wie hij in de gevangenis heeft gezeten.
In 1994 wordt een jonge tweeling aangetroffen in een zomerhuisje. Ze blijken op gruwelijke wijze vermoord te zijn. Een aantal aanwijzingen leidt in de richting van een groep studenten van een nabijgelegen kostschool. De zaak wordt echter gesloten wanneer een lokale buitenstaander schuld bekent en wordt veroordeeld voor de moorden.
Rose wordt naar Bornholm gestuurd voor een afscheidsreceptie voor een van Mørcks vrienden en voormalige collega's. Op Bornholm raken de pas verloofde Carl Mørck, Assad en Rose verstrikt in een oude zaak over de moord op een jong meisje.
