Anora, een jonge prostituee uit Brooklyn, krijgt haar kans op een Assepoester-verhaal wanneer ze de zoon van een oligarch ontmoet en impulsief met hem trouwt. Zodra het nieuws Rusland bereikt, wordt haar sprookje bedreigd als zijn ouders naar New York vertrekken om het huwelijk nietig te laten verklaren.
