Ela is a resident of a provincial town in the foothills of the Sudetenland. She raises her 9-year-old son Damian alone. "She tries to survive in the gray of everyday life. Her every day closes in a circle of the same events: working at the local slaughterhouse, caring for her ailing mother and moments with her friend. One day magic and happiness enter the heroine's life.

Sawa, set to marry her “perfect” fiancé Jurek, is suddenly beset by doubts when a handsome actor, Krzysztof, appears on the scene. With only hours until the wedding and her best friends, thrill-seeker Anka, Oriental enthusiast Weronika, and ultra-organized TV star Oliwia, gathered for her bachelorette party, the bride-to-be is nowhere to be found.

The story takes place in modern-day eastern Serbia, still fertile ground for various forms of superstition and prejudice. Zorica is a village girl who carries a curse. Ever since her first boyriend mysteriously drowned in the river, men around her are dying in most bizarre ways. The plot thickens when stubborn policeman Maane who doesn't believe in 'village tales' tries to investigate whether Zorica is a serial killer or a girl looking for love.

Polish province. 20-year-old Stan quits his job at a car repair shop. He joins his friends, Gobi, Meta and the pack leader Anka, who live by mugging people and robbing stores. One evening Joanna, who is returning home late, falls victim to the gang. Under pressure from the group, Stan, wanting to prove that he is as tough as the rest, rapes the girl. Shortly after the incident, the boy breaks his leg and is taken to the hospital. In one of the nurses he recognizes his victim. However, the girl does not know who he is. A sense of guilt grows in the boy.
