V Rusku tento film zakázali.

V roku 2050 sa vláda v USA snaží ovládať obyvateľov zábavnou virtuálnou realitou, ktorá preventívne absorbuje nespokojnosť ľudí a upokojuje ich negatívne vášne. Výsledkom je poslušné obyvateľstvo. Vrcholom tohto procesu na odpútanie pozornosti a upokojenie davov sú každoročné automobilové preteky smrti. Bonusové body pripadnú tímom, ktoré zrazia a usmrtia čo najviac náhodných chodcov a okolostojacich divákov. Na štart sa pripravuje aj neporaziteľný víťaz všetkých doterajších pretekov, slávny Frankenstein. Tento robotický muž nemá ani tušenia, že jeho kopilot je nebezpečný špión. Vedľa neho sedí účastník tajného odboja, ktorý chce raz navždy ukončiť krvavú tradíciu zabijackých pretekov a zničiť spoločenský systém.
