V Brooklyne všetci poznali túto štvoricu kamarátov, život ich však nakoniec zavial každého inde. Jeden je sám v Brooklyne, druhý so svojou ženou na Floride, tretí žije v Jersey so synom. Z ospalosti ich vytrhne až telefonát toho štvrtého, bohatého právnika z Malibu, ktorý im oznámi, že konečne požiadal svoju o polovicu mladšiu priateľku o ruku. Je rozhodnuté. Stretnú sa v Las Vegas a bude to rozlúčka so slobodou, ako sa patrí. Akonáhle však dorazia na miesto, zisťujú, že toto už nie je to Vegas, ktoré poznali. Mesto sa ani na sekundu nezastavilo a pravidlá hry sa za celé tie roky zmenili. Casino Sands, kde kedysi hrávali, je zavreté a v Stripe teraz vystupuje nejaký Cirque du Soleil. Príliš veľké, príliš hlučné. Ale stále je to mesto hriechu a to je vlastne hlavný dôvod, prečo sem prišli. Krásna žena, postupka, drink po ruke. Štvorica starých priateľov vie, prečo prišla, a začne mesto znova dobýjať.

Traja výtržnícki študenti Adam, Dave a Doofer sú vyhodení z internátu a študentského bratstva Kappa Omicron Kappa (KOK), pretože upadnú do podozrenia, že potiahli finančnú zbierku na večierok. V prezlečení za dievčatá sa pokúsia dostať späť, aby získali dôkaz o svojej nevine. Udalosti však naberú iný spád a všetci skončia na internáte dievčenského spolku, útočisku málo atraktívnych dievčat (keďže naši hrdinovia očividne kráskami nie sú). Plán sa začne definitívne rúcať, keď sa Dave zaľúbi do jednej zo spolubývajúcich a Adam v prezlečení sa zapáči jednému z bývalých kamatátov. Navyše im všetci denne dávajú pocítiť, aká je to slasť byť neatraktívnym dievčaťom.

Teenegerka Willowdean Dickinson je dospievajúce dievča s nadváhou a najlepšie sa cíti v pohodlí domova. Matka, bývalá kráľovná krásy, ju prezýva knedľa a nedokáže sa zmieriť s tým, že z nej nebude modelka. Voľný čas trávi so svojou najlepšou kamarátkou, krásnou Ellen, s ktorou ju spája láska k pesničkám Dolly Parton. Willow je so sebou spokojná až do chvíle, než nezačne pracovať v miestnom fastfoode, kde ju zaujme príťažlivý študent Bo. K jej prekvapeniu, Bo prejaví sympatie, avšak vo vzťahu s ním začne o sebe pochybovať. Rozhodne sa prihlásiť do súťaže krásy, aby dokázala, že aj dievčatá s nadváhou si zaslúžia byť súčasťou takejto súťaže. Šokuje tým nielen celé mesto, ale aj seba.

Chráňte sa pred cestou do Valkenvanie. Obzvlášť keď ste bankár, pretože sudca v tomto kedysi bohatom, ale dnes rozpadajúcom sa meste finančníkov nenávidí a bez milosti trestá. Chris Thorne sa tejto chyby samozrejme dopustí pri ceste do Atlantic City. Diaľnica nie je prejazdná, takže sa spolu s ambicióznou advokátkou, ktorú chcel okúzliť, a s klientmi z Brazílie vydá po neznámej ceste. Urobí dopravný priestupok a stojí pred súdom. Alvin Valkenheiser má pre ľudí z finančného sveta iba jediný rozsudok - trest smrti. Predtým ich však čaká absurdné hladomorňa, pripomínajúce gotické romány.
