Zločinska organizacija SPECTRE je spet na pohodu. Tokrat ugrabi letalo z dvema jedrskima konicama, ki sta zmožni pokončati na milijone ljudi. Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi), drugi človek v poveljstvu te organizacije, od Združenih držav Amerike in Velike Britanije zahteva visoko odkupnino. Tajnega agenta Jamesa Bonda (Sean Connery) čaka še ena smrtno nevarna naloga, v kateri mora priti do smrtonosnega orožja v Largovem oporišču na Bahamih. Med misijo sreča starega prijatelja Felixa Leiterja (Rik Van Nutter) in spozna Largovo osupljivo čedno ljubico Domino (Claudine Auger), s katero se neustavljivo privlačita. A tukaj je tudi cela vrsta novih, smrtonosnih sovražnikov.

Ostareli agent 007 James Bond (Sean Connery) med rutinskim urjenjem naredi banalno napako in njegov šef M (Edward Fox) sumi, da britanski vohun ni več na višku svojih zmožnosti, zato ga za nedoločen čas razreši iz službe. Zločinska organizacija SPECTRE pod vodstvom Ernsta Blofelda ukrade dve ameriški jedrski konici in zagrozi z napadom. Blofeldovega dolgoletnega sovražnika Jamesa Bonda, ki medtem okreva na kliniki, spet čaka zahtevna naloga, da se sooči z nepridipravi in reši svet. Pot ga iz Anglije popelje na Bahame in nato v južno Francijo. Pri tem mu je ves čas na sledi smrtonosna lepotica Fatima Blush (Barbara Carrera), nato Bondu pot prekrižata še zlobni bogataš Largo in njegova skrivnostna ljubica Domino.

Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) nasprotuje tveganju, vendar se njegovo urejeno in načrtovano življenje zaplete, ko se med medenim tednom njegova žena (Debra Messing) začne zanimati za mišičavnega kubanskega inštruktorja potapljanja (Hank Azaria). Hkrati na oder stopi Polly (Jennifer Aniston), njegova otroška prijateljica, ki ga uvede v tvegane športe, začinjeno hrano in ples salse.
