Po družinski tragediji je čudežni deček kung fuja Li Fong iztrgan iz svojega doma v Pekingu in se mora z materjo preseliti v New York. Ko Li potrebuje pomoč novega prijatelja, se prijavi na tekmovanje v karateju, vendar samo njegovo znanje ni dovolj. Lijev učitelj kung fuja gospod Han za pomoč zaprosi originalnega Karate Kida Daniela LaRussa, Li pa se nauči novega načina bojevanja in združi svoja dva sloga v enega za vrhunski obračun v borilnih veščinah.
