Радња ове предивне приче смештена је у Париз у 1910. годину. Главни јунаци су Мадам Бонфамиј оперска дива и њени љубимци – Војвоткиња и њена три мачета: Мари, Берлиоз и Тулуз. Заплет почиње када мадам Бонфамиј одлучује да своје наследство остави мачкама, а након њихове смрти слуги Едгару. Повређен њеном одлуком, али и уплашен да ће га мачке надживети (верујући да имају девет живота) Едгар одлучује да их успава, киднапује и одведе далеко. Након буђења мачке упознају Томаса О’Малија мачка луталицу који у им помаже да се врате у Париз. Повратак је пун узбудљивих догађаја, а упознају и нове пријатеље. Уз звуке свинга и трубе надареног мачка Скета рађа се љубав између Војвоткиње и Томаса. По доласку у Парис они се растају, али Едгар не одустаје од своје намере те је Томас поново ускочио да спасе своју драгу и њене мачиће…

Траг проналази шесторо уникатних вечерњих гостију окупљене у вили њиховог домаћина - господина Бодија -- који заврши мртав након што је његова тајна откривена: он је уцењивао све госте.
