Када је посета болници отказана Меи одлучи сама да оде тамо, али нестане, па се Сатсуки и отац уплаше и крену у потрагу. Опет се појављује Тоторо који поможе Сатсуки да пронађе Меи, те их одводи до болнице где се лечи њихова мајка.
