Rollie Tyler är filmbranschens bästa specialeffektsexpert. Men den här gången är det inte en filmstudio som vill anlita honom, utan FBI. Hans uppdrag är att iscensätta ett mord på ett viktigt vittne - en maffiaboss som polisen vill skydda genom att få maffian att tro att han är död. Rollie genomför uppdraget och får vittnet att spårlöst försvinna, men något går fel och han blir själv misstänkt för mordet. Han jagas nu både av de som anlitade honom och maffian och han vet han inte kan lita på någon. Det enda som kan rädda honom är hans skicklighet som illusionist!
