Två berättelser korsar varandra som av en händelse i denna dramakomedi. Khaled, en flykting från Syrien, glider in till Helsingfors som fripassagerare på ett fartyg för att söka asyl. Handelsresande Wikström lämnar sin alkoholiserade hustru, säljer sitt skjortlager och satsar alla pengarna på pokerspel. Wikström vinner stort och använder vinsten till att öppna en restaurang där han anställer Khaled som diskare.
The series deals with the alienation of the Egyptian family in search of money and its impact on the cohesion of the family and on the future of their children, through Zahra, who travels with her husband to one of the Gulf countries, and when the children reach the university stage, the mother is forced to return them to Egypt.
