เรื่องราวของครอบครัว คันซากิ ซึ่งเป็นครอบครัวแต่งงานใหม่ระหว่างแม่ของ คันซากิ มิตซึกิ (น้องสาว) กับพ่อของ คันซากิ ยูยะ (พี่ชาย) ซึ่งทั้งคู่เป็นเพียงพี่น้องครอบครัวเดียวกันแต่ไม่ใช่สายเลือดเดียวกัน ต่อมาพ่อถูกย้ายให้ไปทำงานยังต่างประเทศ ทำให้แม่ต้องเดินทางไปอยู่ด้วย เหลือเพียงพี่ชายและน้องสาวที่ต้องอยู่ญี่ปุ่นเพื่อเรียนหนังสือต่อไป มิตซึกิ (น้องสาว) เป็นคนขี้อาย และยังไม่สนิทกับครอบครัวใหม่ของเธอเท่าไหร่ ยิ่งพอแม่ของเธอไม่อยู่บ้านยิ่งทำให้เธอไม่กล้าพูดคุยกับพี่ชาย และทำตัวออกห่างขึ้นเรื่อยๆ โดยไม่คิดจะพูดคุยกันเลยแม้แต่คำเดียว
