Helios Film

A two-reel adaptation of Dante Alighieri's Inferno from the Divine Comedy by Helios Film. It is less well-known than the five-reel feature produced the same year by Milano Films, but it was released earlier in 1911.

A powerful storm is brewing at Villa Sonnenschein. Mr. and Mrs. Jaconis have declared total marital war on each other. Jealous Hedy insists on the dismissal of her longtime servant Max, who is too adept at covering up her husband's amorous past, the successful author Dr. Jaconis. Max leaves, and the newly hired servant Ferdinand arrives. When the two meet one night, a fateful mix-up of suitcases occurs. Max suspects that his successor must be a criminal and feels obligated to protect his former employer from harm. He secretly returns to the villa. When Hedy's friend Lilly and the publisher Dr. Ravestyn also arrive, the house becomes a battle arena. Everyone suspects everyone else, and adultery and breach of trust, murder, and manslaughter are just some of the accusations that are leveled...

Cheston, a millionaire, is looking after Maud, a beautiful woman from the 'demimonde'. Her brother, Brilburn, forces her to ask her rich admirer for an expensive piece of jewelry. Cheston buys a precious pearl necklace. Lost film.

All men are under lovely Maritza's spell.Tired of working for the old woman Yelina, who forces her to cajole customs officials to help the smugglers, she flees and finds work at Mrs. Avricolos' farm. Mostly lost, one reel survives.

In this apparently lost film, a beautiful dancer's sexual allure is used by an evil cripple to entice men to their deaths. Falling in love with one of the potential victims, she is told by the cripple that he will set her free if her lover, actually a murderer himself, survives and escapes a bizarre labyrinthe which runs beneath the cripple's house.

Wilton, a hunchback, who was always scorned and ridiculed by women, returns from Java a rich man after having discovered a diamond mine. He romances Gina, who is on the rebound from a broken affair, and showers her with expensive gifts. After Gina reconciles with her boyfriend, she continues to see Wilton because of what he gives her. After he discovers her perfidy, Wilton develops a poison and mixes it into her lipstick, which will kill any man who kisses her. Lost film.
