Eight single men, full of hope, departed on a long journey to Moscow to pursue luck. How strong is their faith that salvation could be in a woman? And what could a woman do for love? The Pursuit of Luck is a documentary film consisting of three stories (Hope, Faith and Love) in which the destinies of the main protagonists intertwine in their efforts to find happiness.
This documentary traces the path of Chalgia music from Constantinople (Istanbul) to North Macedonia. It follows the history of old music groups called tajfi, founded in Ohrid, Veles and Bitola as a result of influences of Turkish classical music, which in Macedonia was blended with Western European traditions. The movie uses old archival footage of the performances of the bards of this type of music, highlighting important aspects of Macedonian music traditions for future generations. In parallel with historical coverage, the film follows the creation and development of new music bands in Macedonia, representing the survival of this musical style in today’s context.

The 27-year old intern at the psychiatry wards Sophie, who’s just graduated from med school, faces the cruel reality and learns the story of the 45-year-old resident of the ward, Mrs. Erme. The professor, Sophie’s mentor and the medical administrator of the facility, sees Sophie’s obsession with her faces and brings the two women together. As the doctor-patient relationship develops, Sophie learns that Mrs. Erme shares her obsession with her face, and furthermore, discovers that Mrs. Erme’s illness is closely connected to this obsession. Through investigation and the torture of her own dreams, Sophie learns that Mrs. Erme had a son, who at the age of ten died from chicken pox, while his mother was too afraid to ruin her face by getting infected by the disease.
