一对年幼的兄妹跟随母亲来到了乡下，然而这个偏僻宁静的小镇，却发生了一连串奇异的怪事，一名声称研究超自然现象的神秘男子悄悄现身。该片为《捉鬼敢死队》系列的第四部电影作品，同时也是1984年电影“捉鬼敢死队”和1989年电影“捉鬼敢死队2”的直接续集。前两部电影的导演兼贾森的父亲伊凡·雷特曼以制片人的身份回归参与其中。2016版重启的“超能敢死队”也就是“捉鬼敢死队3”，中文译名：“超能敢死队”。严谨的来讲，捉鬼敢死队（2021）才是捉鬼敢死队（1984&1989）灵魂上的接续。所以它译名为：“捉鬼敢死队”，而不是“超能敢死队”。

　　影片与《鬼影实录》同样采用伪纪录片风格的拍摄方式，剧情更是基本复制了《鬼影实录》：一对年轻夫妇搬进新家，谁知这竟是一间凶宅，妻子遭遇鬼附身，男主人（马龙·韦恩斯 饰）于是请来各路神仙驱魔，试图挽救自己的幸福生活，或者说“性”福生活。影片其实并非仅仅恶搞了《鬼影实录》，前年北美大卖的另一部伪纪录恐怖片《驱魔》也未能幸免。

捉鬼敢死队员们又一次拿起武器在曼哈顿与恶魔决斗，在纽约城一场小战争后，敢死队发现一个千年恶魔准备重返地球并对曼哈顿不怀好意，而且通过他的王国---曼哈顿艺术博物馆进行破坏行动，现在只有捉鬼敢死队为了拯救纽约城与恶魔决斗一场……

事业有成、意气风发的史蒂文•弗瑞林（Craig T. Nelson 饰）带着妻子戴安（JoBeth Williams 饰）和三个孩子搬进了加利福尼亚某郊外社区。但在入住不久，怪事便频繁发生。先是小女儿卡萝（Heather O'Rourke 饰）梦游，对着自动开启漫屏雪花的电视机自言自语。接着便又不明物体从电视机中飘出，莫名的地震，破碎的玻璃杯……如此种种，搅得弗瑞林一家坐卧不定。过了不久，恐怖事件逐渐升级，卡萝最终竟被拉入电视机中……

美国摄影师本杰明•肖（Joshua Jackson 饰）因工作原因携新婚妻子简（Rachael Taylor 饰）飞往日本。夜晚，他们驱车行驶在一条荒无人烟的小路上。突然，一个女子（Megumi Okina 饰）出现在他们的面前，汽车无情撞上该女子。当他们清醒过来时，却未发现那名女子的尸体。本杰明认为女子已经接受治疗或纯粹是幻觉所至，遂匆匆离开此地。 　　不久，本杰明发现自己的照片中经常浮现奇怪的光影，而简也不断为被撞女子的鬼影所困扰。恐怖事件变本加厉，夫妻俩的好友接连死去，随着事态的恶化，他们也逐渐知晓造成这一切的原因……

阿清（林俊贤 饰）、阿爱（许冠英 饰）和阿水（成奎安 饰）三人合开了一间捉鬼公司，生意一直冷冷清清。某日，三人听闻某游乐场即将展览两具千年古尸，觉得事有蹊跷，便前往一探究竟，随行的还有阿爱的女友小明（陈淑兰 饰）。 　　果不其然，展览当日现场发生了命案，阿清三人顺理成章的接下了这个案子，开始调查事件的真相，让他们没有想到的是，其中的一具古尸竟然复活逃走，为避免打草惊蛇，众人决定暂时由阿爱假扮那具失踪的古尸，却由此将阿爱和小明牵扯进了一段纵横前世今生横亘人鬼之间的旷世绝恋之中。大魔神复活了，然而它的元神并未合一，于是，它将魔爪伸向了小明和阿爱，企图抢夺他们手中拥有强大力量的龙珠。

Jake Kong Jr. and Eddie Spencer Jr. are sons of the original Ghost Busters, and they work alongside Tracy the Gorilla (who also worked with their fathers). Together, they are dedicated to ridding the world of the evil ghost wizard Prime Evil and his cast of henchmen.
